Hearing about the London Olympics may be an old thing by now, what with 2 years left to go; but would it sound better if you knew it would boost our economy? Help our local businesses? And bring thousands of tourists to your local city? Appealing don`t you think?
With `Invest in Southampton' in full swing, aiming to promote the local businesses in Southampton. SEEDA (South East England Development Agency) has also been introduced along with South East Business Link to support businesses as well as advice, which will push them to become more competitive.
Providing many of the training camps, Southampton has a great deal to prove. The initiatives are expected to continue even after the Olympics are over, so hard work and dedication is required to keep things afloat.
SHAPe (Southampton's Heritage and Arts People) has set up a working party, which set up and delivered a Flag Handover, which combined the Chinese and Southampton Sports clubs. The event, in memory of 1908 Olympic Games, that took place on the waters of Southampton, in the form of a flag relay race.
The Council are set to deliver a number of events and projects in the lead up to the start of the 2012 Olympics, including renovating Tudor House, the best known museum in Southampton and The Sea City Museum project, which aims to tell the story of the South's 2,000 year history, including Titanic.
